primary exhaustion ... ?

.
Made for prime time television, the "primaries" were indeed a "spectacle" and exhausting.

Panem et circenses is similar to drinking a lot of water
- makes a person feel full, temporarily, but has no food value, no substance.

Once an empire is stretched to its limits, without another planet to conquer, what then ?

Russians may be poor in comparison to Americans, but Russia is not in debt, and is not afraid to pump its own oil.

Chinese may still live in Communism enslaved by their capitalist masters, but many workers save as much as 40% of their earnings, while Americans continue to spend more than they can borrow.

Americans are not wholly unaware that we are already in a depression - perhaps the worst the world has yet seen - while "media" still questions how long the "recession" will last.

If you have ever been in a wreck, you know that a whole lifetime can seem to pass between the point in time you realize what is about to happen, and the instant it does happen

... but time is short now - only four months until elections, if they will be held, and whatever is about to happen will come suddenly.
