expecting a shock before elections ...

.
"... do you really think we're in a depression or is the trickle down scam just run its course?"

Considering Fitt's "Mortgage Market Musing" [solari.com/blog/?p=1232], I would say the Fed is fatter - justifying her calling it the "tapeworm" - from its host (you and me), and it does not even do us the honour of giving us a Rhett's "Frankly, my dear ..."

Instead, Helicopter Ben is due for an Academy Award (and surely should have his SAG dues paid by the U. S. Treasury) for keeping the focus on supporting the Stock Market and ignoring gold.

There are profits from this fiasco to be sure, but they do not benefit the people of any nation, the people who already cannot afford food, have no jobs to afford a place to grow food, and cannot afford to drive to work even if they had a job, so ...

Is it a depression ? - are we there yet ?

Relatively speaking, some of us may ride this out "comfortably" (with little personal discomfort anyway, if we can avoid looking at our neighbours, or just plain have no heart), but other people have already been in a financial depression for years, and of those who have not, now that they are foreclosed and homeless, well ... hello ?

The only thing I see that has trickled down since that phrase came up is misery, which continues to fill every crack and crevice from the bottom up.

I put no hope in "greater regulation" because I have come to understand the duplicity in that scheme.

U. S. "regulation" has long been a tool brought out when dissatisfaction approaches rebellion - legislation which can be *advertised* while not enforced, and if it ever has to be enforced, includes loopholes which make it helpful to just enough people, again, to stave off rebellion.

Ultimately, such legislation proves, time after time, to benefit the very people who have made a science of crafting it, and if it does happen to benefit anyone else, the old saying, "accidents happen" is heard, muttered, muffled, not too loud.

What has been dawning in my mind lately is that people "in the know" have been expecting a SHOCK before the elections (if there are elections, they add), but instead of the kind of shock they are expecting - the Katrina, or tsunami, or 9/11 variety - we already have our shock.

The entire country (other countries as well) is under the spell of a sort of "creeping" shock as prices continue to rise all around us, like water in the Ninth Ward, and the feelings generated are as devastating as if the city had been hit by a hurricane or tornado, or bomb, leaving us open to those "ideas that are lying around" being applied to our way of life whether we do have an election or not.

I think the U. S. economy has been demolished purposefully, and Senators will continue to seat themselves in the Senate because that is what Senators do, while the middle class will continue to "keep up appearances" because that is what they do, but the troops on the periphery of the empire are already comingling with the native population and a new empire is on the rise in the East.

Prayer is what we all need now, and all we can get please, but pray for peace and a sustainable way of life for us
- not for what we used to have.
