California has a budget crisis ?
The word "change" has been thrown around lately in the presidential campaign with no apparent clue in the minds of those using that word what the word actually means. California currently has about 30,000 "illegal" prisoners - that is, inmates in the U. S. without proper documentation. Only about 12,000 of them are from Mexico (which is a lot, and what is that all about?). The other 18,000 are from all over the world, including Russia, Canada, even Israel, among many other places. A current proposal is to essentially put those "undocumented" inmates on a bus (or plane) and "send them home" - back to their country of origin where they can serve out there time at someone else's expense, BUT ... No. Apparently that is not acceptable to someone - the union for prison guards maybe ? 30,000 inmates in California prisons at $42,000 each per year amounts to $1.26 billion according to my calculator. Want to lower taxes in California ? How far would $1.26 billion go toward providing solar energy to city facilities of every small or medium size town in the state, or making all city vehicles either electric or fueled by water ? ... and what would be the resulting price at the gasoline pump ? As I recall, according to the Law Of Demand, when demand falls (in this case for gasoline), the price falls. How is that for a real *change* ?
