another look at disaster aid

We already know, or have reason to know, unless we ignored what Naomi Klein, and others, told us, that "government officials" were elated to have Hurricane Katrina arrive, and they did not care a whit what happened to the PEOPLE of New Orleans as long as they could grab the Real Estate in the aftermath, which is exactly what they did, making use of their, "When that crisis occurs, the actions taken depend on the ideas that are lying around" preparedness to privatize the New Orleans public school system and convert as much public housing as they could into high-priced family homes, apartments, condos, and hotels.

We can no more than pretend to talk about Personal Sovereignty as if it is something which actually exists today for every American.

PS is a fine ideal and something we are God-given, but in this real physical world, as a practical "something" PS only exists for those who can afford it, and those who cannot afford PS are not all in the economic position they find themselves in because of their own doing, no matter how much we pretend they are, because a significant portion of the population of this country has been actively and relentlessly prevented from rising out of poverty.

So if we are going to point fingers at some group which is taking "unfair advantage" of government programs, I suggest we begin with those who have the money and the power to manipulate our legal system, because THEY are the ones who are receiving the "aid" money.

It is not the desperately poor, as some loudmouth, hate-spewing talking head would have us believe, who "have their hands in our pockets" when it comes to receiving "disaster aid" because the desperately poor, who would die laughing to hear talk about Personal Sovereignty, get NOTHING but a handout, and that is only if there is time and reason for a "photo op"
